Children are the unequivocal foundation of our modern society. Every advancement we make, every community we build, and every standard of care we establish is ultimately inherited by the next generation. Because of this, it is our primary societal responsibility to ensure that children are protected, nurtured, and provided with the highest level of care when they are at their most vulnerable. Seattle Children’s Hospital stands as a pillar of this essential work, dedicating critical resources and expertise to safeguard the well-being of our youth. To support this vital mission, I am offering my services as a graphic designer to create pro bono ad campaigns and billboard designs that amplify the hospital's reach and community impact.
My passion for this cause is deeply rooted in my understanding of child and family dynamics, as well as community development. Having studied the intricacies of how families navigate sudden hardships and how communities rally to provide relief, I know that pediatric care extends far beyond the medical treatments themselves. It encompasses the emotional and structural support systems that surround a family during their most difficult moments. Children, in their formative developmental years, are highly susceptible to their environments, meaning they need to be looked after more than anyone else. They rely entirely on the unwavering advocacy of adults to ensure their environments are safe, healing, and supportive.
Visual communication is a powerful, far-reaching tool for this kind of advocacy. Graphic design is not just about making things look aesthetically pleasing; it is about conveying critical, life-saving messages with empathy, clarity, and urgency. Through targeted ad campaigns and large-scale billboard designs, we can effectively communicate Seattle Children’s Hospital’s mission to the broader public. Strategic, community-focused design can raise awareness for fundraising initiatives, highlight the inspiring stories of resilient patients, and reassure worried families that they are entering a compassionate and highly capable care environment.
By utilizing my technical design skills, I want to create visuals that resonate on a deeply human level. Whether it is through compelling typography, thoughtful imagery, or a cohesive campaign narrative, my goal is to translate the profound social good that Seattle Children’s Hospital achieves every day into accessible, public-facing artwork. Providing these services pro bono is my way of actively contributing to a cause I believe in. It is an opportunity to use design as a mechanism for profound community impact, ensuring that the critical work of looking after our children remains front and center in the public eye.
